Doctor Who Reviews – The Stolen Earth (Spoilers)

2020.07.11 22:17 RojasBenitez1975 Doctor Who Reviews – The Stolen Earth (Spoilers)

Earlier Reviews
At last! We find out why the bees are vanishing and what really happened to the Lost Moon of Poosh.
In many ways, The Stolen Earth feels like Russell T Davies is trying to reward his audience. As members of Gallifrey, it’s safe to assume we’re either fans of the show or looking to troll people who are (hopefully the former). We’ve got an engagement with the show which gives us a sense of ownership; I’ve seen numerous comments on this subreddit where people say they are going to stop watching Doctor Who because it’s no longer ‘their show’, in the same way as I’ve seen remarks from people who stopped watching during the Capaldi/Smith eras and have now returned to the show.
7.4 million people watched The Stolen Earth when it first aired and it’s likely that the 0.4 million would have been ‘fans’ like us, whereas everyone else would have been watching in the hope of being entertained. Davies aims the episode at the audience as a whole by reintroducing recognisable characters from his four series, Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Captain Jack; even if you’d only watched a couple of episodes from each season, the audience would know who these people were. Part of the reason why 2008 now feels like it was part of a golden era of Doctor Who was not just because of the popularity of the main show, but because we had two spin-offs in Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. Torchwood had 3-4 million viewers for Series 2, and the more child-friendly Sarah Jane Smith spin off had about 1.5 million, so by including characters from these shows, Davies is seizing an opportunity to grow the viewing figures for the spin-offs.
As fans we’re going to watch the show anyway, but Davies grabs the audience’s attention by showing the returning characters before the opening credits. The opening sequence is a bit like modern songs having the vocals coming in within 15 seconds to stop people skipping them on Spotify (see Ed Sheeran’s Divide where this rule is followed for every single song). If I was a casual viewer, I’d have turned on Doctor Who, seen numerous returning characters and the Earth being moved across space so it’s very unlikely that I’d have turned over to ITV to watch Racing Stripes.
Although Davies has always tried to avoid alienating the norms, he still gives little nods to fans; after all who would have thought that the third returning monsters would be the Macra? The Stolen Earth has what should be a great big reward for us when we get our first sight of the Shadow Proclamation; this mysterious organisation was first mentioned in the first new series episode (Rose) and there have been occasional references in stories such as The Christmas Invasion, Fear Her and Partners in Crime. Going to the Shadow Proclamation might mean very little to a casual viewer, but as fans we’d waited four years to see it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t live up to expectations; some crystalline buildings built across three asteroids, a few Judoon and a few women who are lacking melanin. Which proves the problem with catering for fans, I’d imagined the Shadow Proclamation as a parliament so I expected something on the scale of the Senate from the Star Wars prequels.
As well as all the returning characters, Davies throws the show’s biggest monsters into the mix as the Daleks invade Earth. Back in 1964, they became the first returning monsters in The Dalek Invasion of Earth but this took place after the conquest, here we get to see the Daleks invading contemporary Earth the first time. There are some great scenes as their spaceships approach Earth and Martha, Sarah Jane, and Jack (in their separate locations) track the incoming vessels, “I’m receiving a communication from the earthbound ships,” Sarah Jane’s supercomputer Mr Smith tells her, “They have a message for the human race.” Then as the message “Exterminate. Exterminate. Exterminate” rings out, Sarah hugs her son Luke with tears in her eyes, while in Torchwood, Jack embraces his colleagues Ianto and Gwen, “I’m sorry. We’re dead.” He tells them. For casual viewers these moments help to sell the scale of the threat.
Martha is in New York with UNIT and when the Daleks attack the building, Martha is given the “Osterhagen Key” and told to escape the facility using “Project Indigo”. She’s talking to Jack on her mobile as this is happening and he implores her not to use Project Indigo. These scenes are not improved by repeated viewing because when you first watch them you feel the tension, but many years later we know the teleport device that is Project Indigo will work perfectly; as Martha says “Maybe Indigo tapped into my mind, because I ended up in the one place that I wanted to be” (at home with her mum!). As much as John Barrowman tries to sell the moment, his impassioned delivery of “Don’t use Project Indigo, it’s not safe!” reminds me of The Five Doctors’ infamous “No, not the mind probe!”
One of the problems with having a group of characters spread across the world is bringing them all together, but Davies has a McGuffin for that as well. The ‘Subwave Network’, operated by “Harriet Jones, former Prime Minister” (Yes, we know who you are!). This is “a sentient piece of software programmed to seek out anyone and everyone who can help to contact the Doctor”, and this links Torchwood, Sarah Jane and Martha together. Rose Tyler has travelled across from her parallel Earth meeting up with Sylvia and Wilf, but because they don’t have a webcam, she can see the conversation but can’t participate. Like Project Indigo, the idea is better on first watch because, when you have time to think about it, the idea behind the Subwave Network is ridiculous, it can seek out “anyone and everyone who can help to contact the Doctor”, but of the people involved in the call, only Martha has any ability to get in touch with the Doctor because she has his telephone number. The software must be clever enough to exclude evil alien monsters because the Daleks would definitely have the ability to contact the Doctor.
The participants in the video conference realise that they need to amplify the call from Martha’s phone to enable it to reach the Doctor, so Mr Smith is linked into the Torchwood rift through the Subwave Network. As we become more and more obsessed with technology, there’s a trend to feature ‘exciting’ scenes in TV and films where people do tech stuff, but everyone punching numbers on their phones to call the Doctor is not very dramatic, especially as Murray Gold backs this up with one of his least successful compositions, Hanging on the Tablaphone sounds like one of his early Season 1 efforts and isn’t a patch on the Blondie song which inspired the title.
Ianto realises that calling the Doctor will make the Subwave Network visible to the Daleks and that they’ll trace it back to Harriet, and there’s a lovely moment as we see her summoning up her courage to proceed, “my life doesn’t matter.” Harriet says, “Not if it saves the Earth.” There’s one last use of the “yes, we know who you are” gag, this time from the Daleks when they arrive to exterminate Harriet and at the moment of her Death, the Doctor manages to break through into the section of time where the Daleks have hidden the Earth and the other twenty-six planets that they’ve stolen.
Although Davies has tried to make the show accessible to casual viewers, the second part of The Stolen Earth relies upon fan knowledge, when Davros breaks into the video call. For those unfamiliar with the intricacies of Dalek History, he proclaims his identity: “Davros, lord and creator of the Dalek race”. What makes this moment fantastic is the reaction of Sarah Jane who says in an awed voice, “but he’s dead”, and you remember that she actually saw Davros before the Doctor in Genesis of the Daleks and watched him die on a video screen as he was exterminated by his own creations in the Kaled bunker.
Now the Doctor is back on Earth, his former companions travel to meet him, but this means they have to behave in some unlikely ways. Jack abandoned his colleagues in Torchwood after the events of End of Days, so it’s in character that he would leave Gwen and Ianto even when they’re under attack by Daleks, but I don’t think there’s any way that Sarah Jane would leave her son with only Mr Smith for protection. It’s this need to move all of the companions around as the plot dictates which is one of the reasons why The Stolen Earth isn’t entirely successful.
All through Series Four, we’ve had glimpses of Rose Tyler as she’s searched for the Doctor and at last, they’re reunited in one of greatest moments in Doctor Who history. I criticised the reunion with Martha in The Sontaran Stratagem, but whereas Martha had been away from the show for about six months, it’s now two years since the Doctor travelled with Rose. When they see each other, one hundred metres apart on a London Street, the Doctor runs towards her and we’re starting to anticipate the joy, only for the Time Lord to be blasted by a Dalek. What makes this brilliant is that Davies has teased us all through this episode by keeping the Doctor from knowing that Rose is on Earth and we’ve been waiting for the moment of reunion, only to have it ripped away from us.
One of the features of many Russell T Davies’ cliffhanger is having multiple characters under threat, something that goes right back to his first cliffhanger in Aliens of London, but here it’s a mistake because when the Doctor is starting to regenerate, I don’t want to cut away to Ianto and Gwen, or even Sarah Jane.
The Doctor’s last words in the episode are “I’m sorry, it’s too late, I’m regenerating” and the now familiar energy shoots out of his hands. I can still remember my feeling on first watching this story, I was absolutely gutted because I wasn’t ready for David Tennant to leave. I had a conversation with my wife about ways in which he could have been replaced without the papers finding out, I thought somehow, he’d regenerate into John Barrowman, but my wife thought he might become Rose, which would be ridiculous – who could imagine a female Doctor?!?
But moments like this are why we watch Doctor Who, it’s a show where anything can happen and the end of The Stolen Earth is right up there with the most memorable moments in my Doctor Who life such as the regeneration of Tom Baker or the death of Adric. I think The Stolen Earth just about hangs together, it’s bombastic and occasionally ridiculous, but it still manages to be must watch TV. (8/10)

2020.01.07 02:18 Ace-trainer-Aimee FIRST EVER SAME SEX PAIR MAKES HISTORY IN DANCING ON ICE!!

Posted this on Tumblr and figured I'd post here aswell because not many people are talking about it!!
 ❤️💛💜💚🧡💙
Genuinely shocked at how little attention this has gotten on tumblr after looking through the dancing on ice tag!!! I don't watch it myself to be honest but my mam called me in because she said they were making history and she thought I'd like to see it and let me tell you I was in tears 😭
Same sex couple skating for the first time ever in dancing on ice! Pair skating is severely hetero normative and as a figure skating fan it gave me so much joy to see these two men, Ian 'H' Watkins and Matt Evers, two out and proud gay men, unapologetically be affectionate towards one another on national television after their amazing skate.
After doing some research about these two wholesome men I found this qoute on Wikipedia from Matt; "Evers, who was married to a woman previously, came out as gay in January 2018 in an interview with Attitude magazine. He said it was partly the death of his uncle from AIDS and the presidency of Donald Trump that resulted in his decision to announce his sexuality publicly, saying: "I live my life by example, and I want to show young people that what you feel or how you were born isn't something bad."
Honestly so much respect for Matt, who is actually a (I think now retired just working on dancing on ice as a partner skater to contestants) professional pair skater after years of doing hetero skating now being happy who he is and MAKING HISTORY as part of the first same sex couple in dancing on ice 👏👏👏 what a glow up!! He went on to say this after the skate also;
"Thank you the the network, thank you to ITV and everyone watching at home that is accepting of us because this is normal"
Just amazing 😭😭 also Holly Willoboughy being a good ally saying "may this continue everywhere!!" ❤️
Ian, the actual contestant is better known as H from Steps is out and proud since 2007 with a loving husband and two adorable twin sons, he was named on the 2017 Pink List of leading Welsh LGBT figures too so major respect to him too!!
Judge John Barrowman's (who is an out proud gay man also) reaction though is what moved me to tears because idiots says representation doesn't matter but you watch that video and you dare tell me it doesn't matter he's genuinely moved to tears because he's so happy to see himself, and other gay men represented in such a hetero normative sport you can see just how much it means to him it's truly heartwarming ❤️❤️❤️
John's words after the skate; "That makes me happy on a complete multitude of levels, just because of seeing two men who represent someone who is like me. And to skate as well as you did you've done it now you've shown that two men CAN preform in skate together. It doesn't be as you did before Man-Woman thing, Man-Man, do it, Switch it up leaders different ways be versatile you know what I'm saying! Listen I'm overwhelmed, I'm almost speechless it was just wonderful"
EVERYBODY IN UK AND IRELAND PLEASE TUNE IN AND SHOW SUPPORT SO WE CAN CAN SEE MORE OF THIS IN THE FUTURE!!! Show them that inclusion of same sex couples will get more people watching and maybe next season we could see two female skaters!!!!!!
UK: ITV every Sunday at 6pm
Ireland: Virgin Media One Sunday at 6pm
It's just aired it's first episode of the season yesterday so it's easy to jump in to, I know I'll be watching it every week supporting Ian and Matt hoping they make it all the way to the top!!

2019.02.20 05:51 AmongFriends Doctor Who Awards: Unconventional Categories

Saw an Academy Awards post earlier about Doctor Who and thought it'd be fun to do a silly version of that with MTV Movie Award categories. They have some funny categories. I also added a few categories of my own.
Post your picks below!

Best Villains Monsters (that don't weep, delete, or exterminate)

Clockwork Droids, "The Girl in the Fireplace"
The Silence, "The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon"
The Foretold, "Mummy on the Orient Express"
Vashta Nerada, "Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead"
The Veil, "Heaven Sent"
---
The Silence know how to dress and I love how scary they are by just simply making tally marks on your arms and face. You don't even need to show anything! They are much more versatile villains than the Angels and did I mention easily the snazziest dressers of the monsters? Missy comes in at a close second.
---

Best Kiss

Eleven and River Song, "The Wedding of River Song"
Twelve and Missy, "Dark Water"
Nine and Rose, "Parting of the Ways"
Nine and Captain Jack Harkness, "Parting of the Ways"
Eleven and Rory, "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship"
---
There's a whole bunch of weight to this kiss between Eleven and River. Sure, it's not their first kiss, that being in Let's Kill Hitler. But the face of the world is on the line and it's the first time Eleven makes the active effort to kiss her back rather than lying on the ground. It's scored beautifully too.
---

Best Breakthrough Performance

Neve McIntosh, Catrin Stewart, and Dan Starkey - Vastra, Jenny, and Strax, "A Good Man Goes to War"
James Corden – Craig Owens, "The Lodger"
John Barrowman - Captain Jack Harkness, "The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances"
Alex Kingston - Professor River Song, "Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead"
Michelle Gomez - Missy, "Dark Water / Death in Heaven"
---
I gotta go with Barrowman for this one. Captain Jack spawned his own television show and is still referenced in the show's lore. He was the first big breakout star of the show and made the Who-verse that much bigger. His performance helped launched the Who Universe that RTD dove into throughout his run.
---

Best On-Screen Team

Twelve and Clara, "The Girl Who Died"
Eleven, Amy, Rory, River "The Impossible Astronaut / The Big Bang"
Ten and Donna, "The Fires of Pompeii"
Ten, Martha, Jack, "Utopia / The Sound of Drums / Last of the Timelords"
Twelve, Bill, Nardole, "World Enough and Time / The Doctor Falls"
---
Eleven, Amy, Rory, and River together provided so many great character moments. You could pair any two up and it'd be classic. Hell, Moffat did do that in the two parter and it shined. It shows how great the four of them were together.
---

Best Doctor Costume

Ten - pin-stripped suit and brown coat, "New Earth"
Eleven - bowtie, tweed, suspenders, "The Eleventh Hour"
Twelve - the magician, "Deep Breath"
Twelve - the maroon velvet coat, "Face the Raven / Heaven Sent"
Eleven - purple overcoat, "The Bells of Saint John"
---
The bowtie, tweed, and suspenders says so much about Eleven. It was his personality summed up in clothes and reflected every aspect of himself. He was an oddball and goofy and seemed like an idiot. But he was also brilliant and brave. It represented so much about him. It's THE iconic look of Eleven.
---

Best Companion Costume

Clara Oswald, red dress and sneakers, "Asylum of the Daleks"
Rose Tyler, the blonde in a Union Jack, "The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances"
Amy Pond, red jumper and black skirt, "The Time of Angels / Flesh and Stone"
Bill Potts, jean jacket and checkered shirt, "World Enough and Time"
Donna Noble, the suit, "Partners in Crime"
---
The best companion outfits are the ones that first comes to mind when you think of a character. And nothing is more striking than Rose with her jacket and a Union Jack t-shirt. It's an outfit that fits her spirit and carefree nature. Easily the staple of Rose's look in her run on the show.
---

Best WTF Moment

A River Song reveal, "A Good Man Goes to War"
The cafeteria shadow test, "Extremis"
Under the bed sheet, "Listen"
"Okay, kid, this is where it gets complicated", "The Big Bang"
A child regenerates, "The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon"
---
Arguably one of the biggest reveals of the show and quite the cliffhanger. It's such a Doctor Who moment that with confusing timelines and time travel, you can very much make it work. It's a WTF moment that the show was willing to take risks and nothing is guaranteed.
---

Best Scene Where You Cried

Amy's Goodbye, "The Angels Take Manhattan"
River's Sacrifice, "Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead"
Bad Wolf Bay, "Doomsday"
Clara faces the raven, "Face the Raven"
He doesn't wanna go, "The End of Time"
---
How Amy comes to her end is quite fitting and possibly the happiest exit any companion has ever gotten on NuWho. She gets to live a full life with the man she loved. It was expected and at the same time unexpected. When you realize that this is how Amy was gonna go, it all hits you. It was sad. And it was beautiful.
---

Best Single Episode (Two-Parter) Guest Star

Carey Mulligan - Sally Sparrow, "Blink"
Amara Karan – Rita, "The God Complex"
Mark Sheppard – Canton Everett Delaware III, "The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon"
Tony Curran – Vincent van Gogh, "Vincent and The Doctor"
Frank Skinner – Perkins, "Mummy on the Orient Express"
---
Mark Sheppard appears for two episodes and knocks it out of the park with his swagger and wit. His transition from the astonishment of the TARDIS to being nonchalant about it is still funny. He is more or less the gold standard of a guest star that makes an impact, is memorable, but doesn't overshadow.

2017.01.12 15:19 devinwifi Info on Cold's Return

Leonard Snart will soon return in the flesh to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, but this is a very different Captain Cold than fans remember.
After sacrificing himself in season 1 to destroy the Time Council and save the Legends, Snart (Wentworth Miller) is slated to join Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), and Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) in the Legion of Doom — and not just as a vision in Mick’s (Dominic Purcell) head. How? Well, it is a time travel show, and it sounds like the Legion may be scooping up Snart from an earlier time.
“My sense is that if Snart comes back into the storyline via his present day incarnation, then he’s a straight up villain,” Miller tells EW — the actor was on hand at the Television Critics Association’s press tour Wednesday to promote the return of Prison Break. “He hasn’t gone on that first season Legends of Tomorrow journey yet, so when we meet him again — quote unquote alive in 2017 — I imagine that he’s going to be much like when we first met him the first season on The Flash, which I’m looking forward to, because it means I get to arc to a completely different place.”
In what could be a reversal of the first season, in which Mick wasn’t pleased with Snart’s heroic leanings, Cold seeing his former partner in crime working alongside a group of heroes should provide some tension between the pair. “I think he’d be disappointed,” Miller says. “I also think some of that disappointment would steam from being triggered by watching his former buddy, a hard criminal, show a softer, more heroic side, because that might mean to Snart that he, too, is capable of showing a softer, more heroic side. I’m looking forward to their interaction for sure.”
But Snart didn’t just leave Heat Wave behind when he died. In the moments before his sacrifice, Cold and Sara (Caity Lotz) shared a smooch. “I’m also looking forward very much to whatever the writers have in store as far as Snart as White Canary,” Miller says. “There was a kiss, remembered by White Canary, but not Snart.”
As for the Legion of Doom, Miller admits he doesn’t know much about the villainous quartet, but doesn’t believe Snart will work well with others since Cold has always been a leader type. “What I can tell you is that Snart is not used to taking orders,” Miller says. “He’s not a team player. That was certainly his story the first season on Legends, so I expect fireworks. I look forward to it.”
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow returns Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.

2016.04.15 16:32 CouthDecay TIFU by meeting John Barrowman.

Naturally this didn't happen today. It was at San Diego Comic-Con 2009.
I've contemplated telling this story for a while but have held back because I cringe so hard when I think back on the details. But like any embarrassing moment, it should be shared with the world because that's the best therapy, right? I don't know.
OK. So there I was at my first comic book convention. I was an Army Captain and had just finished a deployment to Africa for 15 months (this part is important). I had some extra money and time saved up for leave. Two months before returning to the States, I contacted my bff at the time and we then planned to attend Comic-Con that July. This was when you could wait until March of the same year in order to buy tickets. Now they're sold out in seven minutes and it is impossible to secure any as a lowly pleb. I decided to dress up as Wolverine and my buddy was going to throw on a red tank top and go as Wade Wilson from the unfortunate Wolverine: Origins movie that had recently come out. This is us here.
On that Saturday right before the Kevin Smith panel (where he told the audience to just wait six years when all those 12 yr-old female Twilight fans would be 18..(now they're 19)) we walked by a booth where John Barrowman was signing autographs. At this point in my life I had no idea who he was and had never watched Doctor Who or Torchwood. He saw us and stopped his autographs, had his assistant stop us, and he asked us for a picture with him and his partner.
I noted that he's some sort of famous person, gay, and was very personable. "Cool!" I thought to myself as I decided to scream something into the air after I shook his hand and started to walk away... What did I yell into the air for all of liberal San Diego, California to hear? That would be, "VOTE YES ON PROPOSITION 8!"
Remember when I said I had just spent 15 months in Africa? Well, I knew that Prop 8 was a gay marriage bill (I also was not a California resident) and in my ignorance assumed that voting "Yes" would be voting for the legalization of gay marriage. I kind of yelled this out facing the opposite direction of Mr. Barrowman, his partner, and his very long line of fans. I consider myself fortunate for this because I would have realized my immense shame right then and there. As soon as I yelled this, however, a young lady we had befriended turned to me and said, "Are you crazy?!" I figured she was asking that because I had just yelled something out like a crazy person.
Thirty minutes later in line for Hall H as we're queuing for the Kevin Smith panel, I realize my mistake in a sudden wave of shame. It can be visualized as a wide-eyed actor takes on a look of astonishment as the camera moves backward but zooms in on their face. I looked at my buddy and our new friend and asked, "I yelled the absolutely wrong thing, didn't I?" They both nodded in agreement. OH SHIT.
So, I mustered up all the dignity and courage I had left and marched back to Mr. Barrowman's table. Luckily, for my own self-respect, he was still there. I started apologizing profusely in the middle of his meet and greets and picture-signing, while his assistant stared daggers into my soul. It went on something like this: "I am so sorry that I said that it wasn't what I meant I just got back from a long deployment I'm in the Army I was in Africa for a long time I love gay people I hate that you're not allowed to be gay in the Army I didn't realize that yes meant no to loving who you want to I'm sorry I might be gay I don't know...etc" Around this point John, with all his heart, stopped me from rambling and told me he forgives me.
He then gave me a signed picture free of charge and wrote a little note on it for me because he's the best. You can find that picture right here along with bonus pics.
TL;DR: I accidentally promoted traditional marriage in front of John Barrowman and his fans, he forgave me and signed an autograph for me

2015.01.28 07:13 Foundyouout9 Need help understanding my random crush

Okay let me start by saying I'm bi but I think I prefer dudes. Super closeted, no way for me to come out (nor do I want to atm I would get screwed over) I'm pretty masculine, Im positive I don't have any gay stereotypical qualities about me. So yea, it's pretty hard to get my point across to dudes I'm interested in.
I feel like there should be a background before I start this so basically I'm a senior, hes a junior. He's honestly kind of nerdy. From what I heard he's pretty awkward. Band kid, cross country. I'm more into surfing and I ocassionally party. I guess you could say I'm sort of popular at my school.
Have you guys ever seen someone at your school randomly in the hallways and you're like wow, that kid seems cool/fun or even attractive? I'm sure you have. Then whenever you see are around areas where you've seen them before you always look around to see them again? That's how it started for me. I had no idea who my crush, let's call him bob, was yet I was super interested in him. idk why I got so infatuated cause he wasn't amazingly attractive or anything, he just seemed like the type of dude that I would like. I found out he had a girlfriend from a different school so I was like wow lame I guess I can just admire from afar.
But...I got anxious So I told one of my friends who has a class w bob to mention my name in a conversation and see if he recognizes it but my friend told me he said he didn't know anyone with that name.
Flash forward to the next school year, now being a senior in high school, and bob being a junior. He doesn't have a girlfriend anymore and I see him literally everywhere at school. Our lockers are across the hall from eachother. The highlight of my school day is going to my locker inbetween classes and making eye contact, and I mean a LOT of eye contact with bob. Nothing happens except one day over winter break I randomly stumble across his instagram, so after debating intensely (lol) I decide to request a follow. He accepts and follows back, cool. We both like every picture that eachother has posted since then I believe. Nothing happens until one day I go to a party w some of my friends and one of my friends friend, let's call him Sam, who happens to be very good friends with bob. I ended up getting drunk and after the party got rolled Sam drove my car with me and my friends riding along, unable to drive. It was only like midnight so we hung out at a park and just talked. I was kind of in a stupid state so as we were talking about friends from our school I mentioned bob and told him that he seems like a really cool guy and that I've wanted to meet him. Sam kept saying yea he's pretty cool and that we'd prob both get along well since we have a lot of things in common.
The next school day, bob looked at me way more than normal until the point where it just got awkward.
Nothing happens for a few weeks except eye contact until I see a comment he posted on one of my favorite (but really unknown) bands instagram post saying he can't wait for Friday for the concert that I was going to too! So I just went fuck it and I tagged him and was like no way Bob you listen to this band! I'm going friday too blah blah blah sry this is weird you probably don't know who I am. He responds with the only thing I know is that ur friends w Sam (which leads to my conclusion that Sam told bob I said he seemed rlly cool and I wanted to talk to him). And he mentions that he's been listening to this band all week instead of the new fall out boy album. At first I had no idea why he even mentioned fall out boy until I realized that like 10 weeks ago I mentioned them in an insta post so he must've looked through my whole instagram.
(Wow this is rlly long so I'm just Gna make it short as possible from now on)
So last Friday I went to te concert with a few friends and since the band was pretty unknoen the audience wasn't that big, maybe 200 ish ppl. My group ends up being like 5 feet to the side of bobs group. Almost the entire concert I could see in the corner of my eye bob looking at me like every minute or two. We only made eye contact once cause I forced myself to stop looking lol
At the end of the concert I was in a line w two of my friends and I was watching bob and his group in the corner of my eye and as they were all walking out bob turned around and randomly turned around and weaved his way to the other side of th room. It looked like he was looking for someone for a bit and then he started walking towards me so I freaked out and started telling my friend a random story and I guess I was using my hands and arms in the convo cus I sccidently elbowed someone behind me and as I turned around to apologize I saw it was him so I was like "oh, hi!" And he looked really really nervous and he just mumbled out hi and then turned around and kept walking. I couldn't tell if he stayed in there just to have the chance to talk to me or something but that's what I'm hoping.
I sort of know deep down that this won't happen, that he's probably not bi/gay, but so much leads me to believe he is. He follows a lot of gay people (John barrowman, Neil Patrick Harris, TYLER OAKLEY!!?) and likes some pictures of gay actors kissing their partners, etc. But he also had a girlfriend so i dont know. And a lot of his posts lead me to believe he's at least bIcurious.
i think he's sick so he hasn't been to school since Friday, which was the day of the concert. So I haven't seen him since but ahhh I'm just so desperate right now I'm such a loser lol I'm seriously debating not going to the college I want to go to just so I can stay close to home and keep trying at this.
This whole situation has consumed me. Whenever I go to parties I don't even have fun. I just drink and look around hoping He's going to be tere but I know he won't since he's not that type of guy and then I end up doing something with a girl that I don't even enjoy.
What else can I do? I've tried to make it as noticeable as I can...what am I missing!? What else can I do that's not weird to tell him I'm interested in at least being friends?
Not sure why I posted this, I guess I'm looking for a advice, tips, and a way to vent. If you have any insight please help me out!
Ps sorry if I sound super unintelligent in this post lol I wrote it up rlly fast on my phone

Sorry to post it here rather than in doctorwho, but the mods rejected the post because "No posts about cast or crew outside of their Doctor Who Roles. " Which seems ridiculous in this case. There's all kinds of posts about the other things there......Anyway, I hope you guys like it.
